Mark and I visited Qwerty a few weekends back to try their new menu. They have appointed a new chef, thus the menu revamp. It's our first time here, so we never really got to try their previous offerings, but I've heard a lot of good feedback about this restaurant and we were very much excited to try out their newest offerings.

Qwerty is an all-day-dining spot located at the ground level of Media One Hotel. I knew we're up for something cool the moment I saw this on the restaurant's entrance:
The ambience was very inviting and relaxing! It was made more fun by the modern and quirky art pieces and those catchy lines on the walls and pillows.
This Rainbow mocktail, which was specially concocted by the chef, was served for me to try after we placed our orders. I tasted some mixed berry and citrus in it. Very refreshing.
I've already mentioned countless of times about how a sucker I am when it comes to shrimps, so ordering the Prawn Tempura upon seeing it in the Starters section of the menu was a no brainer. :p
My photo may not give justice to how good this dish was! It was lightly battered and seasoned giving that crispy crust and not overpowering the delicate shrimp. It was so good I ate even the tails! Haha! The yuzu mayo gave the shrimps a nice tang while the chilli added a little zing. Mark shied away from fried food so I had the prawns all to myself (oh, thank heavens)!

Mark got himself the Buckwheat Grain Salad from the Salads section instead. A bowl of broccolini, parsley, green apple, snow peas, and spinach; with parsley, mint, spring onions, and green tahini dressing—this salad won Mark over, he kept on telling me to recreate it at home for him.

For the mains, Mark had steak and fish while I opted for some noodles. The Charcoal Grilled 10oz Sirloin Steak was tender and flavorful it's Mark-approved! It was cooked medium well as how Mark likes his steaks. It also came with mashed potato, heirloom carrots, and steak sauce.
The Pan Seared Sea Bass was also a hit for my growing boy. Two huge fillets of sea bass were seared to perfection, with cauliflower mash, sauteed greens, and charred lemon. It didn't have that fishy taste at all, which I also loved.

Mark only ate the proteins and veggiessince he's on a strict diet, so I had the rest of his side dishes to myself. He instead devoured a good bowl of Fresh Green Salad (from the Sides section of the menu) with lemon dressing.

While Mark's mains were both a hit, my choice of mains didn't come far behind. The Singapore Style Noodles came in a generous serving (it's perfect for sharing) with equally generous portions of chicken and shrimps. I also loved how the veggies still had that crunch. Though a little spicy for me (but note that I have very low tolerance with spicy food), the Asian flavor was on point—savory with a hint of sweetness! Yum!

Mark had a cup of Americano, while I enjoyed some dessert, to end our lunch. The chocolate dome was not available during our visit, so I had the Almond Frangipane Tart instead. The tart, which is supposedly the star of the dish, was a little too dense, dry, and rather bland. It had cranberry compote in it which is the only flavor that stands out. What I enjoyed most was the pistachio ice cream and that crispy crepe-like topping.

Mark is hard to please when it comes to food and only a few restaurants make it to the "Mark-approved" list (I guess I really need to make a separate blog post about this!). Qwerty is one of them because of their healthy and delicious dishes. Oh, and the servings are generous and they're reasonably priced, too! Service is also commendable—food was served in no time and we were well taken care of by Cherry, the staff who attended to us.
It might be too early to say, but because we had a nice dining experience and enjoyed most of the dishes, I guess this will now be our go-to place whenever we're in the Dubai Media City area. I can picture myself hanging out here with friends for a leisure meal or a relaxing drink, or enjoying the Dubai winter over a lunch or dinner date with Mark in their al fresco area.
