New Menu Items at Max's Restaurant

Max's Restaurant added new items to their menu yet again, and Mark and I were invited to try them out. It was very timely that we are also scheduled for a meet up with our Dubai family who, coincidentally, also chose Max's Restaurant as our lunch venue.

New Dishes to Try
We ordered two main dishes and a dessert from the new menu plus some classic favorites for our lunch.

We were with a toddler who loves dishes with soup, so the Tinolang Manok was a perfect choice. A traditional Tinolang Manok is basically a soup-based chicken dish that's flavored with green papaya, siling labuyo leaves, ginger, onion, and fish sauce. Max's version uses chayote, bokchoy, and lemon grass as a replacement for the first three ingredients.

My first sip of the soup somehow brought me back home. It tasted very much like my mom's Tinola! Our little toddler, Yohann, seemed to have enjoyed eating it too!

I had been trying to lessen my intake of red meat and I only get to eat it on weekends, so when I saw Crispy Beef Tadyang on the menu, I just knew I had to order it! :p Imagine lechon kawali but the beef version, that's what Max's Crispy Beef Tadyang is like.

The beef ribs were cut into cubes, seasoned, and deep fried; making it crispy, with meat that's still tender to the bite. It comes with a choice of dipping sauces: garlic-vinegar, chilli-soy, and lechon sarsa. I love drenching each piece with a combination of the vinegar and soy dips. Don't forget to try it when you're at Max's! I highly recommend this dish!

We were already full from the feast, but Mark still had room for dessert, so he chose to have the Choco Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. It was beautifully presented with a candied dried orange topper, some strawberry accents, and a fork cocoa powder art.

Knowing how Mark is picky when it comes to desserts and judging by how he wiped it all off in no time, I reckon this dessert was a hit! Will definitely try it out next time. ;)

Classic Favorites
Tita Lilibeth still haven't had breakfast, good thing Max's serves All-Day Breakfast dishes. Tita had their Boneless Bangus Meal--marinated boneless fried milkfish served with plain rice and 2 sunny side ups and atchara. It also comes with a cup of hot Americano.

A meal at Max's won't be complete without chicken, of course, but since I'm with Mark, it's more like "a meal at Max's won't be complete without Kare-kare". Never mind that we already ordered a beef dish, he still insisted on getting the Kare-kare. I must say that it's more flavorful now than when I first got to try it. I also loved that the peanut sauce is no longer bland-tasting! Yay!

Ate Cherry ordered Melon Shake while I had Rock Melon Juice. I didn't have a nice experience with the Rock Melon Juice on my first try, so I decided to give it a second chance, but it's still not what I've hoped for. Just like before, the juice had a hint of either pandan or vanilla rather than melon, and the melon strips still seemed unripe.

If you're a Filipino, or you know someone who is, you'll know that there's no better way to enjoy a family get together than having a Pinoy feast! And where else can you have it than at Max's!
